-I took a ride on the train today. Drank coffe and thought about what I’d write. I sat in an armchair and listened to some guy trying remember the stories in the bible, the ones he was telling a friend…he didn’t know. I went outside, long enough to satiate the nicotine craving. While I was outside I listened to another conversation. Some guy talking about a friend or acquaintance of his, who apparently lives vicariously through her boyfriends and has no real life of her own. When I went back in, the guy talking about the bible, summed it up with, “And that’s the bible in a nut shell.” Clearly he hasn’t read much, it sounded very much like a very bad version of Cliff’s Notes on the bible.
What is having a life? Is simply breathing and existing enough, or do there have to be thoughts forming in you? And if so how many and how complicated?
I wonder if the guy trying to tell bible stories would have been very much offended if I stepped in and corrected his blunderings…is that rude or helpful? It’s all a matter of perspective, isn’t it? But then again, isn’t everything?
I think through each tunnel, I’m trying to find mine. Perspective that is.
